Stockmann Terrace

Stockmann Depatment Store has opened a new terrace garden in the very center of Helsinki. It is Located in Keskuskatu 1, in good company between the commerce building designed by Sigurd Froseterus in 1930 and Ironhouse (Rautatalo), designed by Alvar Aalto in 1955.

The Stockmann Terrace project included idea work, all planning and consultation in building permit.

Ilmastoinfo

Ilmastoinfo (eng.climateinfo) helps city residents to reduce their carbon footprint. They provide practical instructions and guidance at the Sanoma House in Helsinki City Centre and online. Ilmastoinfo also organizes events in cooperation with corporations, companies, clubs and local associations.

Muotohiomo has helped Ilmastoinfo with multiple design tasks varying from interior design to service design in www-environment. In 2011 we designed the Sanoma House multifunctional service space that serves to inform, inspire and educate people towards more sustainable lifestyles.

Our team was also responsible for the exhibition design for “Energiatehdas”,
an event held in Kaapelitehdas in April promoting energy efficient solutions in ones everyday lives.

Aalto University

Established in 2010, the Aalto University is a new, strongly future-oriented university where science and art meet technology and business.

Muotohiomo designed Aalto University’s new office spaces for the Aalto administration located in the Espoo campus area. The interior design was based on the idea of different things coming together, a positive collage of things, thoughts and ideas that will create a energetic mindset for the work environment.

Finnish design, identity colous and budget effectivity were also key drivers for the project.

Sitra Low2No

Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra is an independent public fund which under the supervision of the Finnish Parliament promotes the welfare of Finnish society.

Muotohiomos pride and joy was to design the visual identity of the Low2No -project powered by Sitra. The Low2No -project aims to create new sustainable urban environments and enables ecological lifestyles in the city. The building process aims at lowering the carbon footprint of the district so that in 2025 it will actually release 0 carbon emissions. This means going from low carbon to no carbon. (=Low2No).

Designed by the akcnowledged sustainable architecture company Sauerbruch Hutton, accompanied with Arup and Experimentia, the first actual city block using the Low2No -process will be built to Jätkäsaari, Helsinki. The block will contain both apartments, social entrepreneurs providing ecological groceries and sustainable services, a community sauna and the Sitra new office building.

Stockmann Sushi Bar

Stockmann is a Finnish stock listed company. The company was established in 1862, with consolidated sales of EUR 2 billion in 2009.

The extension project for Stockmann’s Helsinki City Centre flagship store opened in October 2010. Muotohiomo designed a Sushi Bar concept for the renovated deli area located on the first floor, as well as ongoing planning of new areas for the deli department. Key services include managing people flow, brand, service and retail planning.
